Yoga is not merely asana or yoga postures; rather it is the entire science of meditation. Vedic Science is also called “Yogic Science”. Ayurveda is the healing branch or medical side of the system of yoga. It was devised by the yogis and seers to allow for maximum longevity for the pursuit of Yoga, as well as the other legitimate aims of life, and is a gift of their wisdom and compassion. The holistic and constitutional approach of Ayurveda adds much depth to any healing practice – filling in the gap left by other therapies and can be used to provide practical tools for changing your own health. Without an actual change in diet and lifestyle according to natural and holistic principles, like those of Ayurveda, many disease conditions cannot be cured. We now recognize that our health cannot be separated from what we eat, what we do, and what we think. Ayurveda provides us with a system for understanding the energies and qualities that are set in motion by our daily living practices, so that we can use them to counteract or prevent the imbalances that cause disease.

- General recommendations to deal with primary doshic (constitutional) imbalances
