What People Are Saying

Atma Daya yoga online classes are absolutely healing and I consider my time with Deanna an essential part of my healthcare. I’ve found her to be a master teacher and healer. It’s amazing to me how she translates issues I’m feeling in my body into customized healing poses.  Deanna is also fun and down-to-earth with a great sense of humor, so her classes whiz by and end with happy students feeling so much better.

If you have aches, pains, soreness or tight muscles, you NEED to check out Gentle Therapeutic Yoga with Atma Daya – Yoga with Parameshwari… every time I get a chance to attend a class, I am sooooooo grateful. She also does individual, private sessions!

For those who think yoga is just the popularized version, it’s not. This yoga class is just as the name describes – gentle and therapeutic. You stretch out and strengthen muscles to help heal and support all that ails you. And Parameshwari (aka Deanna) is wonderful at gearing the class toward those attending and their individual issues – each at their own pace. You’re not allowed to push yourself – it’s a rule! Tonight, we focused on upper and lower back and feet… and my body is thanking me for it. Plus, the icing on the cake is the few minutes of relaxation at the very end. Good for your body and your soul. Thank you, D!

I signed up for a class with Deanna as a lark and to spend some social time with friends who wanted to take up Yoga. Was I ever surprised when after a few weeks I began to realize some incredible benefits. As a landscape painter, I had begun to experience frequent cramping in my hands and fingers. I thought it was the inevitable result of arthritis that was a consequence of being 77 years old. I often had to stop what I was doing until the cramping eased off. A simple exercise that Deanna showed me has done wonders to lessen the cramps until they almost never happen any more. When I feel a tightening in my hands I can now do a quick fix and go on with my work. A nagging knee strain has also gone completely away with another magic and easy movement that I can do while washing dishes, standing up and painting or anytime I am in an upright position. Unbelievable to me that such a fun and relaxing practice as Yoga can do so much to help in such a short time. I must say that I also immensely enjoy the camaraderie of the other participants. It’s fun and it helps! What’s not to like!!

I have been practicing yoga w/Deanna as the instructor/teacher for 2 years this May.  She tailors her class to meet each student’s needs based on areas that they want to focus on or cause the yogi discomfort.  She has helped me tremendously over the years as a sit a lot for my job (sometimes 55-60 hours a week) and have tight hips and hamstrings.   The classes are for all levels of practicing yoga.

Not only does she help with areas of concern for the individual yogis, but her class emphasizes on staying with the breath and importance of the mind/body/spirit balance.  I recently took a special class she offered the beginning of January ‘20 on positive thinking and meditation and this has really benefited me in staying grounded via implementing the meditation practice into my daily routine each morning and impacted how I approach my daily work with focusing on positive thinking.

I can’t say enough about Deanna and her natural ability to meet each yogi’s needs, she always goes above and beyond!  New Mexico is so lucky to have her here in the Land of Enchantment…

Hello I am a 64 year old man, that had 1 hip replaced 2 years ago and the other hip replaced a year ago.

Although I was reluctant at the time, I am extremely thankful that a friends sister talked me into attending Deanna’s yoga class 7 or 8 months ago.

I was recovering from my second hip replacement and most exercises, bike rides or walks I took didn’t make me feel good.  I sometimes would cut short a walk, bike ride or gym workout, because some body part hurt, was stiff, or sore.

The first class I attended I learned that Deanna always “checks in” with everyone before class, and since I was new she spent more time with me.  I found out she was very knowledgeable about hip replacement and would suggest alternative exercises for me, as needed.

It is hard to explain in words how my quality of life has improved, and much of it because of Deanna’s classes.  I have incorporated many of the exercises into my daily life. I now look forward to going to the gym, going for a bike ride, taking our dog for a long walk, bowling, or doing a few laps at the city pool.  The highlight for me was going waterskiing again for the first time in 3 years, while on vacation in Florida last week.  I learned to waterski over 50 years ago and it was always a big part of my life.  I can now say it is again.

Recently a member of our class saw me walking out to my truck and made the comment how much better I was walking and moving!! I wasn’t trying to do anything different it was just my new normal.

I strongly encourage everyone, of any age, no matter your current level of activity.
